KEARNEY, Nebraska — Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) announced earlier this week that Elaina "Beef" Maxwell and Ashley "Loca" Sanchez have signed bout agreements to fight each other next month in the Cornhusker State of Nebraska. These two accomplished MMA veterans will square off in a women's featherweight bout at RFA 2 - Yvel vs. Alexander on Friday, March 30th, 2012.
Maxwell has won 4 of her last 5 fights, which includes a pair of wins over respected Strikeforce veterans Alexis Davis and Shana Nelson. Meanwhile, Sanchez returned to the sport last year after a 3-year hiatus to win both of her fights, including a Unanimous Decision win over the heavily favored and much more experienced veteran Erin Toughill.
The fight card will be headlined by a light-heavyweight showdown between UFC veterans Gilbert "The Hurricane" Yvel and Houston "The Assassin" Alexander. Yvel who became a star fighting for PRIDE and the UFC, won his his light-heavyweight debut at RFA 1 in December, where he defeated SportFight veteran Damian Dantibo via first round TKO.
Alexander is a native of Nebraska, who holds famous KO victories in the UFC over Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara. Alexander has since TKO'd UFC veterans Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Razak Al-Hassan, after leaving the UFC.
RFA 2 - Yvel vs. Alexander will take place inside the sold out 5,000-seat Viaero Event Center in Kearney, Nebraska. The town is conveniently located in an MMA hotbed between Omaha, Nebraska (where the UFC had a show last night) and Denver, Colorado (where the UFC had a show in September). The main card will also be available on web PPV for $9.99 at http://www.kearneyevents.com/, just like RFA 1 in December.
