Avery Vilche to replace injured Bagherdai at XFC 18

AveryVilchevsHeatherClarkAccording to XFC, Avery “Psycho” Vilche will replace Sofia Bagherdai in the feature bout of XFC 18: Music City Mayhem on June 22nd. This fight event will be held in Nashville, TN, and can be seen live on HDNet. Bagherdai was forced to put her XFC debute on hold, and “Hurricane” Heather Jo Clark will take on Vilche in a catch weight bout at 120lbs instead.

Vilche, who accepted the fight on short notice, will enter the cage having gone 2-1 in her past three contests. XFC 18 will mark the second fight Vilche has taken in 2012, the first ending with a win over Maria Anderverde in late April. Vilche finished that fight in less than 2 minutes with an impressive Armbar victory.

How does this affect the fight? It means Clark will now face a much more experienced fighter in the Avery “Psycho” Vilche, who brings the experience of 11 pro fights, as well as an 11 year age difference into the bout at XFC 18. In 4 career wins, Vilche has recorded two Armbar victories, a TKO victory over Michelle “Thundercat” Ould, and one decision.

XFC President John Prisco was excited to find such a challenging opponent for Clark on late notice: “Avery Vilche is going to be a test for Heather. She takes the fight on late notice, but now Clark who has been preparing for Bagherdai the whole time may have to change her game plan. Vilche is so tough, she has the ability to take some punches and she really grinds it out with the ground game. She’s proven many times she’s capable of submitting or knocking out her opponent, so Heather is going to have a tough fight with her,” said Prisco of the new match up. “Heather is pretty used to late notice on her opponents. I think she may have had her opponents switched on her last minute in three out of four of her fights so far, so she’s not unfamiliar with the circumstances.”
