MMA Rising: Jessica Eye vs Angela Magana Headlines August 17 NAAFS Card

Jessica Eye vs Angela Magana Headlines August 17 NAAFS Card
Top flyweight prospect Jessica “Evil” Eye faces one of her toughest tests to date at North American Allied Fight Series: “Rock N Rumble 6” on August 17th in Cleveland, Ohio. Eye will battle veteran contender Angela Magana in the night’s main event, which will be contested at 125 pounds.
NAAFS CEO Greg Kalikas confirmed the fight with MMARising.com today. Eye has won four straight fights and is coming off of a dominant Unanimous Decision victory at Bellator 66 in April. Magana brings a two-fight winning streak into the bout, but has not fought since August due to injuries.

Eye (7-1-0) remains one of Ohio’s most popular mixed martial artists. The 25-year-old has fought ten times inside the NAAFS cage and has tasted defeat just once since turning pro two years ago. That loss came in June 2011 during the first NAAFS 125-pound women’s title bout when Eye fell victim to a second-round rear-naked choke from current champion Aisling “Ais The Bash” Daly. Since the setback, Eye has shown marked improvement and she has put together a solid string of victories that includes two successful appearances for Bellator Fighting Championships. In April, she had little trouble in defeating Anita “El Tigre” Rodriguez at Bellator 66. Now returning to her home promotion, Eye will face one of her toughest opponents thus far.
Magana (11-4-0) brings a significant experience advantage into the fight with Eye and sports a record that includes three bouts with current Bellator star Jessica “Jag” Aguilar. Magana has posted wins in seven of her past nine fights, but she has fought just twice in close to three years due to injury woes. In March, a planned title fight with Carla Esparza was scrapped mere hours before the event after Magana was injured in a car crash. She was able to recover quickly and competed in a wrestling tournament seven weeks later. Now looking to get back into contention at 125 pounds, Magana will enter hostile territory to challenge Eye in August. Six of Magana’s 11 wins have come by way of submission.
North American Allied Fight Series: “Rock N Rumble 6” takes place on August 17th at Nautica Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio. The bout between Eye and Magana will headline the card.
