Strikeforce on Friday announced another bout for its Aug. 18 event in San Diego, adding a light heavyweight fight pitting Ovince St. Preux vs. T.J. Cook.
St. Preux (11-5) rocketed up the Strikeforce light heavyweight ranks, winning his first five consecutive bouts for the promotion. His last time in the cage, however, he ran into former champion Gegard Mousasi, suffering the first defeat of his tenure in the promotion.
He’ll make his first start in eight months in August when he squares up with Cook, who is stepping into the Strikeforce cage for the third time.
Cook (12-4) is also coming off of a loss, that being to Trevor Smith last November. That loss ended a five-fight winning streak for Cook.
Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman features bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey putting her belt on the line for the first time when she faces No. 1 contender Sarah Kaufman on Aug. 18 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
