It looks like Sarah Cook (3-4) will be returning to the cage after it was rumored she had walked away. She will be facing Molly Dupertuis (1-1) at the upcoming Absolute Action MMA card on July 14th at the Drawbridge Inn located in Florence, Kentucky.
We just recently announced that Chris Dunn, who will be facing Doug Ballinger, will also be on the AAMMA 27 card. This event is shaping up to be a fantastic card featuring some of the regions top fighters.
Sarah has been absent from the cage since last November when she scored a submission victory over Cassandra Walker. Sarah became a house hold name early on in her amateur career when she defeated Leah Kripp to capture the Woman’s AAMMA featherweight title.
Sarah eventually dropped the title in her first title defense against powerhouse Jessamyn Duke. Sarah fought a couple more times after that eventually dropping in weight to fight in the bantamweight division. After her last fight back in November Sarah decided that she was going to step away from combat fighting to pursue professional wrestling (WWE style). Like most fighters who have stepped inside the cage and walked away early, she got that “itch”. That itch that keeps on bugging you too want to experience that so-called rush of adrenaline.
Molly on the other hand who is still young in her amateur career was expected to fight at the Absolute show in Belfrey, Kentucky but that card was cancelled. So Molly, who was at the peak of her training camp, was now without a fight until Sarah decided to come back. Molly has been held in high regards by the MMA community and is anxious awaiting this fight against a former champion to prove the she is the real deal.
The winner of this fight, although it officially has not been announced, will more than likely be for the number one contender to fight the champion at a later date. Win or lose for either fighter it will definitely be a great fight that you will not to miss.
