“I want to fight,” is all Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet is saying.
It’s difficult getting a fight for a Girl from Saskatchewan, Canada people just look at the 1-3 record and don’t know the story. No excuses, but we feel Charmaine is one of the best in the world. She is currently ranked #8 at 155lbs in the world and #32 in the 145lb division. We are looking to change that with two big wins this year and take a 3-3 record into 2013 and make a run at the show . Our goal is to be on the InvictaFC card . We are not waiting to be asked, we are putting it out there we want to represent Canada on this card.
Charmaine has never backed away from a fight, because it might hurt her record and has fought the best in the world. Although her professional MMA record shows her at 1-3 it certainly does not reflect her true talent. “Being from Canada it has always been hard to get noticed as a female fighter, but it’s time we ask for what we want,” Tweet says.
Our goal is to first get on the October card of InvictaFC and with back to back wins Charmaine moves her record to 3-3.
“I am tired of waiting for fights to happen, any of the females at 155 would be a great match up, but also at 145 there are great match ups against any of those top females as well,” said Charmaine . Again Charmaine’s record does not define her, the fights she takes does and her camp feels that she is ready to take on any fighter. A few we would like to simply call out: Ashley Sanchez, Andrea Caplan, Romeo de Prince also a rematch with Anna Barone is welcome too .
Charmaine is looking at taking time away from work to become a full time fighter and we are going to sacrifice everything to make this happen. We have been in talks with many top camps around North America and are looking to spend some time focusing on training with some of them over the next 6 months to make this a reality. Bottom line is we need all the help we can get from people like MMAMadhouse to help push this drive ahead and get the media attention it’s going to take to get a Saskatchewan fighter the recognition she has earned.
After building up an impressive Muay Thai record of 11-1-1 including 2 Canadian Titles and 2 World titles, she found it near impossible to get a ammy MMA fight. After being turned down by 25 of the top ammy camps at the time for fights we decided to go pro. Which drew a lot of attention as she debuted against Ronda Rousey, but that was a double edge sword of types. ”I have always tested myself against the best in the world, and my who’s who of opponents will attest to that,” says Charmaine. When you are in it for the love of the sport, the politics and jockeying for position come second you might not get the opportunities you want when you want them.
