Heather Bassett Shoots for Absolute Action MMA Title Against Evva Johnson in Kentucky

Heather Bassett is quickly proving that she is game for any challenge in anyone’s hometown.
Wisconsin’s fastest rising female prospect has agreed to face off against Kentuckian Evva Johnson for the Absolute Action MMA bantamweight title at “AAMMA 23 – A Night of Champions” in Ft Mitchell, Kentucky on February 18.
Continuing to compete on a regular schedule, the Unified Martial Arts fighter has quickly emerged as one of the area’s most impressive amateur mixed martial artists. Following wins over Leina Luelf and Moriel Charneski, Bassett dropped an exciting decision to former Wisconsin fighter Rose Namajunas back in December.
Along with earning victories in the kickboxing circuit, Bassett has showcased a strong range of grappling abilities and most recently took home the top honors at King Grappler in Madison. And it may just be her submission skill set that proves most useful come February 18.
Johnson, who owns an impressive record of 5-1, earned the Absolute Action MMA title back in June of last year with a second round arm bar victory over Sarah Cook. Of Johnson’s five victories, three have come via arm bar submission.
The Kentucky native is currently riding a four-fight win streak that includes back-to-back submission victories in her previous two bouts. The 27-year-old recently knocked off fellow prospect Rachel Dovido at “NAAFS: Night of Champions 2011” in November.
Stay tuned to US Combat Sports for any news regarding Bassett’s upcoming title fight against Johnson in Kentucky.
