It has not been a good day for UFC 149.
Thiago ‘Pitbull’ Alves, who was expected to face Siyar Bahadurzada, has been forced off the July 21 card in Calgary due to injury.
Sources close to the match-up confirmed Alves’ removal from the card to MMAWeekly.com on Friday.
It’s unknown at this time what the nature of the injury was, but it’s going to force Alves to the sidelines and out of his scheduled bout against Bahadurzada.
UFC officials are said to be currently looking for a replacement to face the Afghan born knockout artist, but there’s been no word on who that will be at this time.
Alves was returning to action following a loss to Martin Kampmann in his last fight at UFC on FX 2 in early March. Now the Brazilian born welterweight will have to wash the bad taste of a loss out of his mouth later this year when he returns to action.
MMAWeekly.com will have more information on Bahadurzada’s new opponent when it becomes available.
