A previously rumored women’s Strikeforce Bantamweight title bout between “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey and Sarah Kaufman is now official and will take place August 18th at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, CA.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker verified the booking Tuesday during a media conference call. The fight between Rousey and Kaufman has been anticipated ever since Rousey’s first-round submission of then-champion Miesha Tate back in March.
Rousey (5-0), the 2008 Olympic judo bronze medalist, has never let an opponent out of the first round, submitting all five of her professional foes via armbar.
Kaufman (15-1) will likely be Rousey’s toughest test to date, having lost only once in her career, while defeating some of the top fighters in the division, including Miesha Tate, Shayna Baszler, Liz Carmouche and Alexis Davis.
