You know the old saying, "never leave it in the hands of the judges." Or DirecTV for that matter.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White will need a little longer than five minutes to recover after getting "kicked in the balls" during the UFC 150 event that took place last Saturday night (Aug. 11, 2012) at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Despite a dismal main card offering and some scoring shenanigans in the main event, the Las Vegas fight boss insists it was a "fun night."
Yes, he's being sarcastic, considering the "Henderson vs. Edgar 2" event, which produced "the worst gate since 2007," never even made it in front of the DirecTV audience, after the global satellite giant "went down" and effectively eliminated a "huge number" of potential viewers.
From the UFC 150 post-fight media scrum:
"Worst gate since 2007, for a pay-per-view, without a doubt. We've been talking about it. The shootings here, the fires that have been going on here. It's been a really bad summer for this place. Once all that stuff started going down, we felt it was not gonna be a good gate here. We know it's not the [marketability]. Everywhere we go, the least of our problems are always the gate. DirecTV went down tonight. We couldn't have been kicked in the balls worse than we did tonight. The entire system went down. Black. That's a big number. Huge number. Fun night."
