Freedom Fights: A taste of Freedom Fight

Pete Rodley said people were “blown away” when Freedom Fight came to the Sudbury Arena last September.
When the fights return on April 21, the show will be even better, according to the Freedom Fight president.
“What people saw in September blew people away — it blew the roof off,” Rodley said. “People were very surprised a real MMA show was here. What people can expect is more of the same, except amplified 10 times more.”
Several of the awe-inspiring fighters seen at the fall show will return, as well as some local talent.
Chris St. Jean, “the pride of northern Ontario and Sudbury,” is one of those fighters.
Between the talented athletes and show production, Rodley said the show will be nothing short of “top notch, world class mixed martial arts association right here in Sudbury.”
A different breed of entertainment has been something the city has been long overdue for, Rodley added.
“I think Sudbury is hungry for different entertainment ... and unique shows,” he said. “For a long time, we didn't really get much at the Sudbury Arena.”
Now, that's beginning to change, thanks in part to Freedom Fight.
“This is a working class community,” Rodley said. “People like one-on-one sports, and they like to see people challenged.
“I don't want to say it's a fighting town ... but we do have our aggressive side — northern pride is very important. People like to see a good aggressive contest.”
