Damon Martin: Roger Huerta Meets Phil Baroni at One FC: Destiny of Warriors

A pair of former UFC fighters will look to get back on track as Roger Huerta meets Phil Baroni at One FC: Destiny of Warriors on June 23 in Malaysia.
Huerta’s manager Ali Abdel-Aziz of Dominance MMA confirmed the fight to MMAWeekly.com on Friday evening.
Following a run in the UFC’s lightweight division, Huerta not only made the cover of Sports Illustrated, but also came close to a shot at the 155lb title.
Unfortunately he came up short in back to back fights against Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard before shifting over to Bellator Fighting Championships in 2010.
Following a win in his debut, Huerta suffered consecutive losses once again dropping bouts to Pat Curran and Eddie Alvarez before leaving the promotion. Huerta then lost to former Ultimate Fighter competitor War Machine in a welterweight bout before taking some time off to retool and refocus.
Now back on his game, Huerta will look to rebound in 2012 and it starts in June with his bout at One FC in Malaysia.
Facing Huerta will be fellow former UFC fighter Phil Baroni, who fought on the inaugural One FC card in 2011 losing by decision to Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
Baroni has been out of action since that time, but now looks to make a splash in 2012 as he faces Huerta in a bout with fireworks written all over it.
