Two Ohio natives returned home on Saturday night to pick up wins and titles as UVC 20 took place in the capital city of Columbus.
Former Ultimate Fighter competitor Luke Zachrich returned to competition for the first time in more than two years he took time off to heal injuries and open his own gym, Ronin Training Center.
Zachrich was able to pick up a win in his comeback as he defeated Nick Kraus by unanimous decision to capture the UVC middleweight title.
The Columbus area fighter was able to out grapple Kraus on the mat, looking for constant submission attempts while his opponent was left just trying to defend. The judges all saw the contest the same way and handed Zachrich the win by unanimous decision.
Also on the card, Team Alpha Male fighter and former Ohio State All-American Lance Palmer picked up his fourth win in four fights, staying undefeated as one of the top prospects at 145lbs.
Palmer picked up a nasty leg kick to damage opponent Jon Washington’s lead leg, while also managing some takedowns to get the victory. Palmer wins the UVC featherweight strap, and now moves on to his next challenge as he continues his climb towards a potential run in the UFC where he could join teammates like Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and Chad Mendes.
